Peter trained in classical guitar and jazz theory, learning arranging and composition techniques. He applied the lessons learned to other contemporary styles, such as electronic music, blues and folk. He has composed soundtracks and done sound design for a wide range of formats including documentaries, children's videos, television, radio dramas, musicals and theatre. Broadcast and film work includes National Geographic, BBC Radio Drama, Sony Pictures and Sky TV. Theatrical work includes productions at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, New End, King's Head, The Orange Tree, Finborough and the Edinburgh Festival.

He also performs as a guitarist with various groups, including Brazilian and gypsy-influenced Pocket Caravan, klezmer band The Matzoh Boys, and Indian classical vocal group Bhavini. They have taken him to venues as varied as Wembley Arena, Royal Academy of Arts, Royal Albert Hall and the Houses of Parliament.
